Subject: USDA pulled corn ear samples today

SWMN
They are using one of my fields for yield checks. They did soybean checks in the same field last year.
They said that they would put the ears that picked on the porch. I have been picking and testing moisture the last few weeks from average to better spots in the fields and have not been impressed.
The ears that they picked were about twice the size of the ones I picked and wet 23.6 for moisture.
So look for Redwood to have an artificially high yield. I don’t know if I could have found a grouping of ears that big if I tried. We have had a lot of drowned out spots yellow corn from nitrogen loses this year so our crop is going to be less than average. On this quarter that they picked we replanted almost 10 acres and should have did more there is about 3 to 4 acres that still drowned out. Of all our farms this one drains the best as far as the tile getting the water away.
