Hooker Twp,Ne | I had to calm down before I posted. Our local school district of approximately 480 kids wants to build on. Almost $ 27 million dollars. So there’s going to be a 20 year bond issue. Land will end up paying for the majority of it. So I’ve been visiting and emailing the superintendent. Keep in mind this bond issue is going to cost abt $7-12/acre every year for 20 years. And we’ve been exchanging questions. All went fine until today. So I had figured the land we farmed and rented in the district would cost my son and me about $12,000/yr. 20yrs and your looking at a quarter million dollars. No pocket change. Well today the superintendent emailed me wanting me to give him an idea on how much money I made per acre. Well he would never believe me so I tried the UNL website and had no luck. Well the Illinois farm doc had a cost/ acre profit/loss for 2025. So I figured the south district would be close and I used county 23 yields which are 165 corn/ 45 bean. On of the replies back we Recieved is. I didn’t know it cost that much I figured you guys a $4 corn were making $400-500/ acre. Now we have someone with doctoral degree and hasn’t a clue. No wonder we have problems in agriculture. And I’m just a dumb high school graduate.
