Subject: Pasture rent price

Roggen, CO A mile from 2 counties
So to make this shorter than it would be I will broadstroke my issue. 1000 acre pasture, had good water out of the well and the water got contaminated in 2023 by the creek somehow. Dry creek, only runs with lots of rain and that’s what we had that year. Sulfates, sodium and TDS are sky high. We’re assuming from the metro water bio solids farm at the headwater of the creek.

Last year renter lost 30 pregnancies due to the water, we didn’t know it was contaminated at the time. This year he’s claiming rent for pastures they haul water to is 2-3$ per acre. 80% less than we were getting. We’re in Colorado so we don’t get a ton of rain normally. I feel like that’s extremely low. I get that it’s a labor intensive job hauling water but that seems excessively low.

I plan on doing another water test this spring to see if anything has changed but my hopes are low. Anyone have opinions? Here’s the last test just so you know.
