Subject: pork loin on the grill

East central Iowa

Last night I took $12 worth of pork loin from Sam's Club and grilled them.  They were about 1½" thick and each about 12 square inches.  I only used a little salt, garlic salt and some Kalmse seasoning.

The grill temp gauge said 550° when I put them on, about 4 minutes each side.  Then I covered the grill with a silicone mat and put them on that for 10 minutes, (5 minutes on each side).  I checked the internal temp and fount it to be 125° to 130°, at that point I moved them to the top rack which is about 8" from the main grill and left them there for another 5 minutes.

Checking them I found them to be 150°,

They were juicy and delicious and because they are my supper for the next 5 days ( there were 6 of them in the package) I've got inexpensive, delicious meals ahead.  Not knocking steak but the same amount of steak cost me $35 so I vary between pork, steak and chicken.  (Sam's Club barbecue chicken costs me $5.35 I think and lasts me about 3 days).

Not for everybody but I'm content with this.
