| I moved a grain bin to my place, and I put it on a much taller foundation, so I opted for a chain suspended install for the bin fan, 10HP. I have turnbuckles with eyebolts on each side, fully tightened the transition to fan bolts before tensioning, and then tensioned the turnbuckles so it just rose off of the pallet I had it on, so it has slight upward pressure. I can still lift it up slightly, just due to the flex of the transition where it connects to the bin. My worry is after decades of being there, with enough 50+ mph winds potentially raising it up, it could fatigue the sheet metal enough at the transition to bin connection, and break it. Am I worrying too much, should I put some more tension on it, or should I put a post underneath the fan and run a wire from the fan to the post, to act as a "hold down"? Thanks! | |
