Subject: RE: When to replace auger flighting

Monroe City, MO

I disagree with dumping it and buying a new one. We had a 10x36 Westfield swing away that we rebuilt this winter. New tube (except the swing away) and had the entire flight replaced. We also had the hopper rebuilt as it had a hole in the bottom. I bought this new about ten years ago for $6700. I didn't price new but I'm guessing today that auger sells for twice that. The re-flight was $40 a foot so about $2000 there, tube was another $2000, and all new bearings, sprockets and chain was less than another thousand. All in I'm going to be $5000. I have a new auger basically for 40 percent of the cost of new.
