SE SD | Haha, Exactly! TPP was a HUGE trade deal that Obama had us lined up to sign. From what I remember, It would've been great for our exports like agriculture. Also would've put us very securely in the drivers seat on high tech and highly skilled manufacturing. The hang-up on it was letting the low tech, low skill, low pay manufacturing go to the Pacific Rim countries. IF Trump was such a good deal maker the 1st time, he could've tweaked that deal if he wanted to protect some of that low tech manufacturing, but keep the rest in tact to bolster our exports. But nope....1st day he nixed it. The great part about it was that the Pacific Rim countries would've essentially NAFTA'd China. All that economic pressure on China would've brought them to the negotiating table on a whole host of issues. It wasn't a "perfect deal" but a good deal for USA. | |
