Subject: RE: Steady Steer gear ring

Fairfield County, Ohio, USA
I'm interested in this thread. We have two SteadySteer setups (that we just move the motor between), one in a Deere 4440 and one in a Deere 4230. The 4440 we bought first (it's three years old now I think?), and I have never noticed a catch in it. Feels incredibly smooth, just like there was nothing there. The 4230 though, we just bought last year, and it catches obnoxiously badly. As we don't use it terribly often, I just uninstalled the pin so that the gear just rotates with the wheel, and I'll reinstall the pin when we need to use it. I wonder if that unit is defective (despite only being a year old), or if there's something wrong with its installation.
