I've never heard them. My understanding is that the electromagnetic forces that drive the light show also vary electrical charges on terrestrial objects, such as grass leaves or pine needles. The discharge of these charges is what people hear as hissing, static, or frying sounds. That would be eerie. Maybe someday I'll get to experience that.
