SESD | I've put quite a few SteadySteer's in over the years but too not many the first year and don't know of any ring gears that catch. I did remember hearing about some ring gear quirks, one was to not tighten the top ring screws down too much as they can get into the internal gear. While looking for details on that I found this article talking about your issue. Some units shipped before February of 2021 had symptoms you describe. The solution is, or was, to setup a service request to repair the ring gear 4005955. In the essence of time maybe contact a local dealer to see if they can loan or swap yours for a current one...
