Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I'm not sure of your cable arrangement but the old rule of thumb used to be:
If the 9 pin connector from the GPS source would mate with the 9 pin connector on the device needing GPS, just plug them together.
If the 9 pin connector from the GPS source would not mate with the 9 pin connector on the device needing GPS because they were the same sex, then a null modem gender changer was needed. The null modem gender changer allowed the connection to be completed and swapped the Rx and Tx wires (Pins 2 & 3). The other remaining pins should be clipped so they don't cause a dead short. A flat faced clipper can be used to clip off unneeded pins.
