Subject: What is the automotove industrie's endgame?

I enjoy watching this channel on YouTube as Eric is one heck of a mechanic and he's entertaining. Anyway, his latest post talks about something as simple as changing the headlight bulbs could soon cost you ~$500 or more from a mechanic. Why? On this particular Nissan truck, to replace the bulbs, Nissan recommends removing the grill, headlight assembly, etc, totaling 1.6 hours of work. If the truck had been equipped with a front-facing camera, an additional step of recalibrating the camera would be needed.

~$80 for 4 bulbs
1.6 hours @ $100 to remove everything for access = ~$160
recalibrate the camera = $250

If you watch he does show that all that labor is not necessary,

So, who does Nissan and all these manufacturers expect can pay ~$500 to replace their headlight bulbs going forward? The people buying these vehicles most likely are stretching just to put gas in a new vehicle each week (or electricity), given how expensive they are. Is this as simple as not seeing the forest because of the trees? Sure, the gadgets are fun, but the maintenance cost is becoming ridiculous.

Scarier yet, go look at a new Benz where the entire dash is a giant LED screen. Imagine owning that vehicle 10 years from now, thinking you got a "great deal" on a used one. Then the dash dies....even if you could find one... I shiver thinking about the cost. Mercedes seems to be a trend setter in car options, so I'm fairly certain this is coming to the other manufacturers.
