Subject: RE: Finding land to lease

Northeast, Nebraska
Word of advice from someone who did what you are trying to do. Don't give up your side job. When things go downhill on farming, you will still have income coming in. If I had stayed where I was before I quit to farm fulltime, I would of had a 6 figure income. It worked for a while but wife and I had to create a sidebusiness to help pay the bills. There is too much competition in renting land these days, unless you can find that guy who wants to help you out but around here the landlords meet at the coffee shop and brag about how much they got for their lease and then rent goes up. Nothing beats having income security. When farming becomes your livelihood, it takes the fun out of it and your stress will go through the roof.
