Have an HP laptop with Windows 10. Received a warning message from Microsoft that after next October they will no longer support 10 and I should plan on getting something that can run 11. What happens after October. Will my computer still work?
Thanks
Updates for 10 will continue for years, but it will be paid support. Most of those updates will be available to anyone, but they won’t be automatic anymore. I’m guessing that security updates get extended beyond October.
Windows 11 will run on any device that meets the minimum memory and processor requirements. The TPM 2.0 requirement is for security. Windows 11 has a lot of “baggage” that Microsoft is trying to push on “customers”. If your technical enough that can be avoided, but Microsoft is baking a lot of hooks into Win 11 since the OS itself makes them little money.
Windows 11 market share will not accelerate like 10 did when the support deadline looms. Most people are not going to rush out and buy a new computer. At this point we are 4 years into Windows 11 release. If I planning I would wait until 12 is released. Skip 11 all together. |
