East of Broken Bow | Difference is back then, the market dictated the changeover, and the government didn't mandate horses out of production.
I have yet to find anyone who is all against EVs, but I can't hardly swing a dead cat (to quote Mark Twain) without hitting someone who doesn't like the mandates.
The mandates and subsidies have turned into a big boondoggle of black holes where money disappeared. For example, the government wanted charging stations to be built. After spending $7 Billion (with a B) they managed to get 7 up and running. I'm not against a little bit of Uncle Sugar helping things out a bit, but how was that money well spent?

Biden’s $7.5 billion investment in EV charging has only produced 7 stations in two years
ETA: Thank you to the OP for the write up. From what you wrote the EV sounds like a good fit for you. I'm not sure I like the 9000#+ operating weight for a half ton truck though. We have an old IH farm truck that weighs about #9600 operating weight, and can haul over 8 tons of payload. I almost think the EVs are going backwards in that regard with their high empty weight.
