I had a young man back into mine. Put a ding in the right rear fender and broke the plastic molding for the wheel well. Independent body shop in Wolf Point, MT sourced the part and repaired it. Think it took about a week to get the part. Didn't seem to be as big a problem as advertised. 
As far as the electrocution hazard, those concerned need to look at a series of YouTube videos from Weber Auto. The professor that narrates them is affiliated with Weber State U in Utah. If one takes the time to view and understand the battery pack, you will likely conclude that the electrocution hazard is wildly over blown. When the low voltage is removed or the car turned off, all the 400V stuff is contained within the sealed battery pack. Fail safe contactors both need to be energized before the pack will let any HV out of it. There is also a pyro fuse that cuts the circuit, regardless of what the contactors are doing. A sufficient impact causes a small explosive to blow the line open on that fuse.



ED , can the batteries blow up in a fire ?
