| Exactly. Redundancy is key. We have ~80mt of mixed feed to go out every day. 3 mixers. 2 loaders. First line of defence is spare parts and tires/wheels. Cattle can be fed with 2 mixers. Takes longer but doable while you make repairs. We’re currently fixing a wore out horizontal as a spare. Will be nice to have as an option.
We like to keep our feeding equipment fairly fresh. Downtime bothers me more than cost. 2 kuhns & a penta here as those are the closest dealers. Both have provided spare wagons when we needed which happened when parts were hard to come by. Supplier relationships are pretty important piece to feeding cattle going smoothly.
