I drive my EV from NE Montana to SW AZ and back to MT every year. Usually have three motel stays. You don't need to plug the car in all night. The best time to charge the car is after it's been driven for a ways. Charge at a supercharger before you hit the shower and bed in the evening. Some motels are 5 miles away from my motel. So I spend an extra five minutes charging to give the car enough range to get to the next morning's supercharger and to account for sentry camera drain during the night. You can turn off sentry mode and make the car just like any ICE vehicle but I find the peace of mind from having sentry cameras armed and ready to alert me worth a few extra minutes of charging.
