Side terminal batteries have always seemed to me a poor third place after top post!
Cut the rubber boots off, throw away the 5/16 headed bolts with 2 threads, and replace with stainless socket headed bolts with stainless flange nuts, and avoid interstate batteries (only ones Ive ever had leak on a side post, and on numerous occasions) and I prefer that setup to everything except stud type truck batteries.
