Work-arounds aren't acceptable either. I know there are some reading this thread thinking, "what's that guy want....everything?"

Yes.

This is common in the tech world anyway. Do you see any Apple users complaining that their devices don't talk well to Android devices other than voice and SMS? No, they often take pride in that reality. Does Google give the best experience possible to Apple users? No. Apple iOS does work with most Google apps, but the best experience is reserved for Android users. Does Microsoft offer Office to Linux Mint users? No, the best experience is for Windows users.
Likewise, I don't expect Deere to give the best experience to AGCO or CNH users either. They have ATU and ATC options, but it will never be as good as a real 8R or 9R tractor. And just remember, most new Case planters don't work without a PRO 700 display. So it's not just Deere playing hard ball.

Its fine, when you are happy with this all?!?!?
And as long you can pay for all of this is even more better, because so companies can make good profit!

But coming to the point: Would you bu a implement which would not fit machanically to your tractor?
Massey Ferguson did set up a standard in the late 50th with the 3point hitch! today nobady thinks about compatibility of a three point hitch implement... Its as it is and no discussions! Every impement fits to any tractor!

Or other sample: If you wuold like to buy new tires for your car or tractor you do not need to look for very special tires for very special rims! You just drive by a dealer you tell him the rimsice and tire dealer give you plenty of choises for differnet stile of tires which fits to the rims of your vehicle...

TO your sample: It dosnt matter if I buy a Apple or other made computer. All do have USB connectoers that I can connect any "external toy" and when I connect it is compatible and does work!
Why is it so? Because consumers did dicide!
And in Agriculture electronics?
As I can read here between the lines: Many are proud of the "toys" which they own, because the are only cpmpatible to tractormaker X or Y.

Nearly every one is comüplaining about expensive Ag equimpment electonics. Very simple: half of the price is incompatibility! And as long users/farmers are satified with this "crap" they have to pay for it!

Begining 2000 I did try to force AEF and AG industrie to create a standard for AG Monitor Screen view........ but now success!

Or an other sample: GPS Antennas! A very good RTK Antenna including 4 G Modem is max. between 1000 to 1500 US$ Cost! THe AG Industrie die uses till ca.p 2015 the common NMEA Protocoll, so it was mostly possible to use any Antenna to any IOSBUS screen. Now? Even AG LEader did change thier Softare that it is only possible to connect a common Novatel smart 7 Antenna wich has uploadet a specila AG leader Softwareversion. I do not critice AG leader, because as long as costomers do accept tis and the very high salesprices AG leader and many other companies do it right! In my eyes its a sign, thaat Agriculture does still make enough money to pay for it!?!
