My experience with a 806 and a 1086 is that with a small shot of starting fluid, they start about any time. They seem to handle starting fluid better than many engines.
However I plug them in unless setting out in the field. I believe starting engines cold shorts their life. Also the heater starts working quicker.


30 years ago, I would not be afraid to say any of our tractors would start at -15F with canned glowplugs, not plugged in. I've never understood the use in mentioning this fact, in my opinion it does not count. The only thing that counts is if it will start with no ether, and not being plugged in.
