West Chazy, New York | We built one in Hawaii and lived in it for 12 years. Tile floors, granite counters, maple cupboards, a nice kitchen, and three phase power. We joked that her friends liked the kitchen and lanai while mine liked the shop. We saved a little on construction costs compared to separate buildings but not much. The savings were time and only having to go through Honolulu's incredibly slow and expensive permit process once. I never once worried about our building's ability to survive a storm or termites.
