At the end of September it probably takes a whole lot longer to get a full cure than most of us are used to. Stem moisture- your baler moisture meter is pretty useless for detecting stem moisture. Our dry down times are double or longer after august. If it’s hot it might not be double but it’s still takes much longer with the short day length. Even if you did a pretty good job checking for stem I’d guess you had some wet slugs that weren’t found in the field.
