Don’t know what type of grass you are seeding but if you can get someone to tell you it’ll mix well with oats that could be your best option for that drill. I’d leave the tubes alone and set the drill to the ideal depth for the alfalfa (the oats will do fine). In my heavy ground I don’t like to get the alfalfa much deeper than 1/4” but that’s irrigated and I can keep it wet.

Im getting ready to do a similar planting this spring. Alfalfa in the little box, forage barley in the big box and Timothy in a borrowed brillian that I hook behind my drill.
