I had a whole post typed up about that. Anything bigger than a 4440 is poor starting IMO. Dad had a 4630 that was a bad starter, traded on a 4840 that needed to be plugged in under 50. 4850 wasn’t much better than the 4840.


Something wrong with a 4840 that won't start under 50°F without help. Should be good to around freezing. 50 series good to around 15/20.

ETA.

That said, we still plug stuff in when it gets under freezing if we know we're going to use it.

Easier on everything, IMO.
