SE SD | I think the problem is they were way overpriced to begin with. Same with just about everything. I remember when a brand new 1770 16R-30 planter was around $50k. Brand new tractor to pull it was around $125-$150k. Now BOTH the new tractor & new planter are a half million. (Well not quite, comparing new 24 row instead of 16 row) But you get the point. The implements are worth dang near as much as the tractor. Never used to be that way.
X9 just has a smaller customer base. Not enough people need that big of a machine. For a lot of operations, the bottleneck isn't the combine. Labor, and hauling it away is usually where the problems are. Besides, it's expensive to keep one rotor going let alone two! Repair bills on X9's have got to be insane. | |
