FarmingMo - 12/23/2024 19:50 How so? We all ain't pushing 70 with a bunch of payed for land and machinery coup. Some of us need the bank still

He's an arrogant SOB.   You've clearly done everything wrong.

He's never had his financials  murdered by somebody owing him a ton and filing BK.   (if nothing like that has happened to you, VeraSun, anybody?)   He doesn't seem to have a clue what it's like to have even a family member have a divorce, drug problem, whatever, impact the operation, - bless his wife.   (Bless mine too, she is awesome- but I know of a lot of huge haircuts in divorce settlements....)   He doesn't have 20-30 years of payments on land that was once paid for to buy out 2-3 off-farm heirs like some people do because the "estate plan" (if such a thought even existed) sucked dog balls.

If you aren't buying all of your inputs at Bangkok whorehouse prices, and selling your bushels at St. Louis river terminal premium prices, you are an idiot.

I don't paint with such a broad brush, because I know there are a TON of different situations and struggles in the real world that people are just trying to survive.

Amen......These 3rd, 4th , and 5th generation guys on here are all farming with inherited land. Try farming without it. Or with a whole host of other issues. Every operation is different and will have different shapes and depths if holes to fill.....Lets see you farm a few thousand acres with nothing inherited and the ability to get credit because of your own assets you've acquired, not a co-sign from daddy or grandpa. Let me know when you've pulled that off.
