Franklinton, LA | Back in the old days rubber tired and crawler tractors were pulling disks at 2.5 - 3.5 MPH. People needed higher concavity blades to roll the soil over at these travel speeds. A 25 degree cutting angle with 4" concavity, 24" diameter blade was pretty common. The 25 degree cutting angle and high concavity blades did not cause a bad ridging problem at these travel speeds.
The higher concavity blades accelerate the soil faster and throw it further. This requires more HP. If the higher concavity blades are really penetrating it will require more HP to pull the disk.
