NW IL | Insurance companies are taking an increase industry wide. Derechos and other severe events have increased, not to mention the hundreds of contracting companies going door to door unsolicited promising homeowners new roofs and siding through insurance. There's two types now, those that have taken a large increase and those that will be taking a large increase.
If you have a good relationship with your agent that means alot, sometimes a conversation with your agent can help, sometimes they can re-shuffle things to find a way to save you some money, not always but possible. If you don't really know them, can't hurt to shop around. A good agent can make all the difference should you ever have a claim. Whatever you do, make sure it's apples to apples and appropriate values on your coverage. Lots of companies quoting well under value on structures etc. to get a lower premium to gain your business. Won't say any names but saw a company that had less than $100k coverage on a very nice less than 10 year old 60x80 fully finished farm shop, supposed to be replacement cost...
