Have a 20 amp pump 230 volt pump roughly 900 feet off road.  Power company has 3ph 480 going by.  Currently no electric service.  Power company says since they have 480 I can get by with #12 wire electrician says I need #1 wire on 230.   Would I need a step down transformer?   Any good farmer fixes?   Dumb down your replies it’s been nearly 30 years since I took my semester of electronics in college.
