What were input costs 20 years ago?
One half of the equation does not tell a story.
I paid $400/ton for anhydrous one of those LDP years. Not a high profit year. Those really didn't exist then. As I recall, a more typical price was $200-300.
One of my first years, an irrigated field made 185 bpa across the scale. My landlord (who had been farming it prior to me) thought that was a very good yield for field average.
That was Golden Harvest 2547. If I recall correctly, it was $80 a bag. I don't remember the Bt number, but it was over $100/bag. Pricy stuff, but ECB made it well worth it. |
