"Took 13 years but changing all my base saturations to numbers I like has made this less of an issue."

When you are able can you post the soil tests showing this change over time and outline your journey of fertilizing and practices to make this change? With such a large sink of Mg and Ca in our heavy, most productive soils it doesn't seem possible to make meaningful changes here. Notill and covers have changed the plantability, trafficability of these soils immensely but the inherent fertilizer values we haven't messed with too much other than keeping K sufficient .

Here are some changes we made on a farm over 4 years with a single heavy applications of lime (4.5 tons of high cal lime with a 60% ecc). I know this isn't the best data but it's what I have. The data points in the aerial map are the most recent ph and mg base sat. We were able to basically drop our mg base sat, increase our Ca base sat but dropped our ph. This is on a corn soybean rotation where we are using AMS as our S source for corn and elemental S for soybeans. Midwest labs was used both times for the samples. You can see the CEC ranges from mid 20's to 30 on this clay base soil.
