Federal gov subsidies airports, making airplane tickets cheaper, this results in more demand for airplane mfging. City of Wichita, Ks pays an airline to have flights out of Wichita. State of Kansas gives 10 of millions of dollars to airplane mfg in Wichita State gives income tax credit to employees of airplane mfg. It is common to hear that someone has quit a job working for tractor dealer, tire shop, grain elevator, or chemical dealer and is now working for airplane mfg. All of those airplane mfg jobs results in more people moving to the area that I farm reducing the amount of land available for anyone to farm, and increasing the price on it. Most of the houses and business that are built give little to no regard to the farmers down stream of them, so it floods more often. The government encouraged increase of flooding seems like a good reason to have a government subside for crop insurance for those that farm in the bottom. School districts compete with each other to get as many kids to go to their school by passing bond issues to build something new and bigger even thou there are less kids in many area schools than there was 20 years ago. Bond issues raise property taxes on land. Some of these bond issues we can not even vote against since we do not live in the district, which I would call taxation without representation. I would be for getting rid of all subsidies including eminent dominion, I just do not want to be the first to give it up. While we're at it get rid of government protection for deer. We added the cattle back about 15 years ago, but it is a small herd compared to what we farm. We raise more corn, reduced or got rid of milo, sometimes have some cotton, used to do wheat on wheat, now all wheat gets double cropped to soybeans.
