Subject: RE: Teaching Basic life skills

ohio
In our ag business class in high school we had to do a living budget based on our jobs. IE gross check, net check , taxes paid, date spending, gas, insurance , savings. Plus any crop or livestock income and expenses. We also did our taxes in class. This was 48 years ago. Home ec, accounting and shop classes also taught alot of life skills, however other than vo ag none of my kids took those classes as schools no longer have them in the curriculum. More emphasis on meeting test scores. Ultimately my wife and I took responsibility to teach our kids as many skills as possible. Great that we both had parents who taught us.
