Cost of production and price revolve around each other. The market needs most farm land to remain in production, and it will keep whatever is needed going.
But it may not need the least efficient 5-10% of farmers or farmland. And it may well do what it takes to drive them out.
And that would hurt. There would be blood on the streets. Farmers would not go quietly into that good night.
But at least 80% of farmers and farmland would keep going. To think that major portions of US farmland would go out of production is ludicrous. | |
