| I would argue that Social Security isn't welfare in the slightest, it is in effect a loan (probably at low to 0% interest) given to the government from the taxpayer, and a hell of a long term one at that. I actually should research SS to a greater degree, what is the average % of getting the money back that you put in? On average, if there was no SS, and you put money into the stock market, with all proceeds going back into it, what is the difference in value between that and what you get back from SS? I bet it's alot more than SS. If it's greater than SS, if helping people was the goal, they could just force people to put money in the stock market. | |
