If you search this topic, as I did, you'll get hours worth of reading. If i remember correctly the general thought is 5-10% better efficiency with it cracked. I fed whole corn for a while and I was not happy with the amount of corn in the manure and volunteer corn in the pasture. Many say the corn you're seeing is just the outer shell but I've picked some out and cleaned them off. Once cleaned you can't tell the difference of the ones out of the poop pile and the ones out of the bin. What percentage passes through them, I don't know but I'm convinced the kernels I found did absolutely no good to the animal.
