Subject: 7 year old Bosch dishwasher didn't die after all.

Manitoba

I posted a few days ago about our Bosch dishwasher that suddenly quit.  It's electronics were completely dead.  If I left the breaker on the pump would run
intermittently but no lights on on the control panel.  So I assumed the control box was bad and found out it was $288.  I thought it was probably not worth doing on a 7 year old machine. Luckily the one online parts person I talked to said  that they do fail because of the moisture under the dishwasher.  So I gave it air and gentle heat from a heat gun, put the power back on and sure enough it lit back up like normal.  The bottom of this unit is one big plastic pan and I did notice it was wet.  So I set it up so I could run it outside the cupboards and watch for leaks.  It was difficult to see because its fairly closed in but I managed to see that the water inlet valve had a slight leak.  $30 for the part and it's fixed.  I was very close to just going out and dropping a $1000 for a new one.
