Your point is to take a futures position to protect the price? No one that I know of will forward contract cattle that far ahead. If they do it’s probably not worth the paper it’s written on. Maybe you know more honest cattle buyers than me. Would be nice if it worked like that. We do it in the grain business.
I’m talking about actually selling the calf. They sell on team every Friday. No idea if you back out of that contract what would happen.
These are heifers off grass but a couple weeks ago there was some calves selling also.
