When 500 calves are bringing 3-3.50lb and cull cows are 1.30-1.40 it probably works about as good when calves where $2lb and cull cows worth $1. If this cattle thing stays good for a few years a guy can get 2-3 calves out of the cow and she still be worth good money to die or keep calving. It takes more than 1 or 2 guys to get price that high so alot of people think it's going to stay good for awhile. I still believe the cow numbers are so low that it will take years to build the herd. That's if we ever do. There is 10 grain farmers willing to expand compared to maybe 1 guy that wants to buy cows/cattle. I do agree it's getting plenty top heavy in all sectors of the cattle market.
