Greenwood County, KS
The concept that’s being discussed is marginal cost of production. If you can refrain from being an ignorant prick for a minute, you might learn something.

Every extra bushel you raise costs money right? You don’t go from 140 to 280 by doing nothing different right? There is more fertilizer, fungicides, micronutrients, trips across the field, more expensive seed. So the point is, that if one can make the same PROFIT per acre at 140 bu/ac with a conservative approach compared to spending excessively to raise 280 bu/ac corn, the lower yielding scenario has other advantages such as less time investment which frees up opportunities e.g. farming more acres, more timely completion of other jobs, and spending time with ones family.

I never said “I want my corn to yield half as much.”
Merry Christmas everyone. Even this guy.
