| We custom feed put together high risk cattle. We try to stay under 1%. I consider anything under 2.5 a success. Pretty sure we’d be unemployed if it was over 5. Our home raised calves are almost always under 1% for the backgrounding period.
To clarify. We typically only background 5-7 weight calves from weaning to 1000#s. So my % are for that 120-150 day feeding period.
