East of Broken Bow | You say the owner has never been friendly towards you, is there some issue in the past, or was it just always that way? I ask this to suggest you talk to the neighbor ahead of time, if you think there is a chance it would go smoothly. If it will just cause more problems, maybe not worth the risk, but sometimes if people have input, or at least feel you are taking your impact on them into consideration, it may lead to better relations.
That said, I don't know if I would put the bin there. Not only is it right by their place, and being so close to the South they would be getting dust and bees wings in their yard, not something that leads to good relations. I hear a lot of 'my land, I can do what I want', but often simple consideration to prevent a fight does a lot more good than actually 'winning' the fight. However, my reasons are not just due to how close the yard is to your proposed bin site. My thoughts are future expansion, as well as access. If you are only ever going to have one bin, that is one thing, but if you ever add on to it, from the aerial photo it almost seems like it would be better on the other side of the power lines, unless there is some reason I don't see to not have it there. Hardly any farther to haul crops to bin, and better access to the road. The best bin loadout system I have seen is a neighbor with 2 driveways to the bin, one on either side. Drives in one, loads or unloads the truck, then drives past bin and out the other driveway. Lots more room to do that farther South. Also, if you plan future expansion, you are boxed in between their property and the power lines. Around here, there are minimum distances new construction has to be from power lines, with bins requiring extra clearance due to auger use. I would suggest the other side of the power lines would allow for much more future expansion compared to where you are thinking. | |
