2001 Hagie sts12 (spraying) - Has an integra/paradyme/sa module system and liq and aux modules for spraying
Bought so far - IC1200, 7500 waas
Need: Steercommand and harness, 7500 harness, IC to legacy adapter
I'm haggling with a dealer on the steercommands.
Here's my experience with steering a Hagie for what it's worth.
I had a Hagie STS-10 in which I used an Ag Leader for spray control. I used an Auxiliary Input Module connected to the Hagie switches. A Liquid Product Control Module was used with the Servo hydraulic control valve in that sprayer for spray control. This worked well. No attempt was made for assisted or auto steering.
I traded the STS-10 for a somewhat newer and less used STS-12. Again I used an Ag Leader Auxiliary Input Module to the Hagie switches. This sprayer has more sections so I had to add on to the adapter harness that I had used in the STS-10. A Liquid Product Control Module is used with the PWM hydraulic control valve. I installed a pump switch in the PWM line so that the operator could be certain that the pump would not run when the tank was empty etc.
Ihad purchased Ag Leader's Steady Steer assisted steering for my combine for the previous harvest. It worked well in rowed soybeans with a 35' draper head. I harvest with the rows. The 35' head allowed me to harvest 14-30" rows. This meant with a 14-30" rows from a planter pass there was some excess on each end. This excess was almost always enough cushion to take 14 rows from two adjacent planter passes meaning Steady Steer worked fine.
Since I was quite impressed with the Steady Steer in the combine, I decided to try it in the Hagie. I purchased the steering wheel ring for the Hagie and installed the Steady Steer in the Hagie. My Great Nephew who does the spraying decided that it did work but was too slow and not accurate enough for spraying crops in rows. He felt that for broad acre spraying it might be acceptable.
You mention using Steer Command Z2 for steering which would be better (I have one of those in the planting tractor) but I'm still not certain if this would be acceptable in row crop spraying. I was using an Ag Leader 7500 GPS unlocked and subscribed to Terra Star Pro C. Even though our land is quite flat, the combination of planter drift and Steady Steer was not quite what we were hoping. Also we plant 60' but spray 90' which adds to the problem.
Since we may be changing our operation somewhat for next Spring, I may move the Steady Steer into the Hagie again since we may be doing some broad acre application of fertilizer before planting where Steady Steer may be acceptable.
