10 ton HEX will far out dig and out lift a "normal" loader backhoe, Cat 420/430, JD 310/410, Case 580's, etc. They'll perform like a CAT 450, JD710, etc.

If you have a way to move it (roading isn't an issue) and don't need a loader that's 100% an excavator decision for me. Transportation and having the loader are the only good reasons to pick a backhoe over an excavator for that work.

Can't beat the backhoe for a one-man band operation to dig, backfill, load, grade and drive it back to the shed though.
