Pittsburg, Kansas | Yes but only one. I usually do two. Usually about 10-12 weekly. That is about what my ears will endure long term without giving me problems. I usually do a morning dive solo and one in the afternoon with my wife. If some gung ho friends come along I might do 3 for a few days in a row with them.
Did one this morning with my wife and another friend. About 78 minutes and wife was cold so we got out. She is wearing a 3 mil wetsuit and I am wearing a 5. Water is warm at 82 and most people don't even need a wetsuit or maybe just a shorty. I can go about an hour that way. But my dives are usually 75-100 minutes long and the body loses temperature in water over time. So the 5 mil is just perfect for my long dives. I also have a 2.5 mil vest I will put on over the 5 mil if the water is down to 79 which it was last winter. Warm so far this winter. Both air and water temps. Daytime air temps around 85 or more.
The good thing is rubber keeps you warm. The bad thing it takes a bunch or weight to get you down and the compression at depth makes bouyancy changes more often so use the BC a lot more. I'm diving with 20# of lead right now. Which kind of sucks. But I stay warm.
Went on a tank fill and grocery run this afternoon with wife. Kralendijk was busy. Lots of traffic. | |
