I think you don't get to decide whether the doctor uses a robot.  The Doctor decides. And he is going to bill you for the use of the robot.  You don't get to decide.  And the doctor isn't concerned about your finances.

Kinda like when you are in a serious accident. The call for a medical helicoptor. Who gets to decide whether to make that call. Not you. Who gets the bill?  You do. 

That kinda why you need to have medical/ health insurance.  At least they can fight the charges they deem extravagant.

From what I read in your post, I take it you don't have health insurance.
