Paxton, IL | I currently use WM drain on an FM 1000 display for installing tile with a gold digger plow. I use a Speicher 6060 trencher for installing mains or a line where I know I’ll cut other tile I will want to locate and hook up.
I currently still control the trencher with a spectra precision laser system, but would like to look into setting it up for the ability to run off the WM Drain system as well.
To control grade on the trencher, I put the tail of the boot in float and raise or lower the front of the wheel to control depth of cut. There is a simple valve installed for the laser where you open a bleed valve that allows the wheel to “leak” down and the laser system picks it back up to keep it on grade (appears to be a bang-bang type. Not proportional). Can I tie into this valve for WM drain to work the same way, or would a different valve be needed?
I can mount the display and get power cables set up easy enough. What would be needed between the display and the valve? I have a module in my tile plow tractor that allows the tractor to control the plow directly with the tractor hydraulics without a valve on the plow. I’m assuming I would need a different module for the trencher?
I also have an IMD-600 on the plow. I’m assuming that would give me roll compensation, but would there be any other benefit to putting it on the trencher?
Any idea of the approximate cost to do this?
