Subject: RE: Rattlesnake ???

Lots of bull snakes here. If you have big bull snakes you don’t usually have rattlesnakes. A 5’ long bull snake will eat the baby rattlesnakes. If you stumble into an infestation like a cellar or old hay barn it’s rattlesnakes everytime. I’ve never got into a jam with 20 bull snakes.

I suspect we walk right past a lot of other snakes. But as far as what I actually encounter it’s about 50% rattlesnakes, 40% bull snake, 5% coach whip, 5% garter snake. Now and then a hog nose or unidentifiable snake.
Snake removal folks in Abilene say we have copperheads, but I’ve never had an encounter.
