NW Iowa | When I was on the harvest near Sterling Colorado one cattle man told me he has had two stock cows bit. He said if a cow unknowingly stands on a snake the snake will retaliate by biting the foot. He said the foot swells up but there is no permanent damage. One cow got bit in the nose. He said the nose swelled way up and the cow made a terrible sound trying to breathe but that cow healed up too. He also told me if he runs into a rattler while checking fence he is jumpy for the rest of the day. A cattle man in Idaho used those exact same words to describe an encounter. | |
